SUSTAINABILITY & GREEN PRACTICES

The goal of these guidelines is to reduce environmental impact during the Teton Powwow and Native American Showcase and Cultural Education Forum.

Many of these guidelines are reflective of Teton County’s Road to Zero Waste Green Event Resource Guide, which also aims to increase cost-effectiveness and create greater connectedness across the local community with regards to solid waste reduction.  Its intention is to achieve 60% waste diversion from landfill or incineration by the year 2030.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Planning Your Participation:

  • Please be thoughtful about the materials the Powwow attendees will be using and disposing of.  Ideally, they are reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
  • Please avoid non-recyclable and/or non-compostable products, such as single-use plastic water cups and polystyrene.
  • Water refill areas will be available for water bottles.

Food & Beverage Vendors

  • Compostable dinnerware is the best option, if reusable plates and silverware aren’t possible.  Plain white paper plates without a waxy coating are an inexpensive, biodegradable alternative.
  • Provide paper napkins only upon request.
  • Provide reasonable portion sizes and only what the consumer asks for.

Informational Booths
